Real-Life Success Stories:

Solar PV Tenant Case Study

The Pride Group was receiving power bills from both their office locations with annual electricity bills of approximately $12K. We approached the landlord and proposed installing a system on the roof which the landlord would own as a building asset in turn for Pride Group to gain from the PV produced.

After some negotiation, which included a lease extension, the landlord put in 75% of the cost and Pride Group provided the 25% difference. We installed a 22kW system with a 20kW Fronius 3 phase inverter. Office hours are 7am-5pm during weekdays, and the air conditioning runs throughout the year, heating in winter and cooling in summer.

Any excess energy is fed into the grid at a maximum of 5kW per phase per hour (max 15kW per hour). They produce more than they require and on weekends feed 60-100kWh into the grid each day. Pride Group recovered their investment in just 9 months. The system now covers 100% of the Sunshine Coast office power bill and approximately 50% of the Brisbane office power bill.

We estimate over the next 4 years of their lease will be a production that will equate to approximately $36k in savings, as well as the environmental benefit of having sustainable renewable energy.

This success story demonstrates the real-world benefits that businesses can experience by investing in solar energy. Not only did Pride Group significantly reduce their energy costs, but they also contributed to a more sustainable future.

Choosing the Right Solar System for Your Business

Now that you’re convinced solar energy is the way to go, you might be wondering, “How do I choose the perfect system for my business?” Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered!

Here are a few key factors to consider:

  • Your Energy Needs: Take a good, hard look at your current energy consumption and think about any future growth plans. This will help you determine the size of the solar system you’ll need.
  • Your Location: The amount of sunlight your business receives plays a big role in how much energy your solar panels can generate. Make sure to choose a spot on your property that gets plenty of sun exposure.
  • Your Budget: While solar energy can save you money in the long run, it’s important to consider your upfront investment. Chat with a solar expert to find a system that fits your budget and energy needs.
